If you are not familiar with Poker play in Florida, the maximum single bet in ring games allowed has raised from the Previous $2 Limit effective July 1, 2007. The various rooms in Florida generally offer games in Hold‘em, Stud, and Omaha with $100 maximum buy-in. If you want to play higher limits, you will either have to go on-line or out 3 miles, on a gambling boat, the State $200 maximum limit does not apply and $4-8 and $10-20 ring games can be found on boats and games as high as $300-$600 can be found on the on-line cardrooms.

Harrington On Holdem Vol.1
« on: January 09, 2006, 10:03:54 AM »

Over the Christmas Holiday break I had the pleasure of reading Harrington on Holdem, Vol. 1.  I've probably read 20 Poker Books over the last three years but as we know, so many of the original poker "bible's" have based their recommendations on Fixed Limit, Conservative style games.  Harrington's book is designed to help No Limit Tournament Players improve their game and I think "Action Dan" has done a wonderful job.

In addition to a quick review (yawn) of the basics the book quickly moves into giving solid advice about being sucessful in No Limit tournaments, both Live and On-Line.  He offers solid, straight forward advice and has some excellent advanced stragety on how to take advantage of the all in move.

My only critique might be that he seems to heavily discount the skill of play in on-line tournaments vs. live torunaments.  I will agree that you face a wide variety of skill level in on-line tournaments but in my opinion he discounted the skill level to much.

In General, if you play (and want to improve your play in) multi-table tournaments either live or on-line, i put this book, and its sucessor (Volume II) as must reads in 2006.
